The risk of rotator cuff injuries increases as people age. According to the Johns Hopkins Medical Center, most people have at least a partial tear in their rotator cuff tendons by age 60.

The ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) attaches the upper arm to the ulna, the bone on the inside of the forearm on the same side as the pinky finger. The UCL helps support the elbow when performing throwing motions.
